14 January 1864 on board of Queen Elisabeth Cruise Ship, Priest N Graafland wrote about a land called Tomohon, where he visited in late 1850. And then, Tomohon City has been mentioned in historical record. One of which, is in the record of Ethnographies world. Development of civilization and the dynamic of the development of social development from year to year had been made Tomohon become one of the capital cities of a sub district in Minahasa Regency.
